Over 38,000 pounds of ground beef from Canada have been recalled after not receiving an inspection when imported into the United States.

The recall was issued on July 30 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

According to the agency, the new shipment consisted of 38,406 pounds of boneless beef head meat products that were “not presented for import re-inspection into the United States.”

The beef, which was imported on Jully 13, was “further processed by another company into ground beef products.”

The recall is for products from JBS Food Canada ULC, a processor of beef, pork and prepared foods in Brooks, Alberta, Canada.

The specific items included in the recall are 80-lb. boxes containing eight, 10-lb. chubs with “use by/freeze by” dates of 08/09/2020 or 08/10/2020.

These were sent to distribution centers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, before being delivered to retail locations to be sold.

While no illnesses have been reported, FSIS urges customers who may have the items in their freezers to discard or return the products.

A recent salmonella outbreak linked to onions has led to a recall of the vegetable. So far 396 people in the United States and 120 people in Canada have come down with the illness.
