St. Paul planning pork chop barbecue

OAK HARBOR - St. Paul Lutheran Church will have its annual Pork Chop Barbecue from 11 a.m. until sold out on Sunday at the church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor Southeast Road. Price, $10, includes two pork chops, homemade parsley potatoes, coleslaw, bread, homemade pie and a beverage. 

This year, only drive-thru service will be offered. Buy tickets from church member or calling 419-898-0908. There maybe a limited number of tickets available the day of the event. 

Fremont Council to meet Thursday

FREMONT - The Aug. 20 City Council meeting has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, due to technical issues with Zoom. City Council will be using the agenda created for the Aug. 20 meeting. Residents can view the meeting on the City of Fremont, Ohio YouTube channel.

Wreaths Across America calls for Sept. 11 flag waving

COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine - On Sept. 11, Wreaths Across America has called for every American to stand outside and wave a flag for one minute at 8:46 a.m. and then again at 9:03 a.m.

At 8:46 a.m. Sept. 11, 2001, five hijackers who had taken control of American Airlines Flight 11 flew it into the heart of New York City and the northern facade of the World Trade Center's North Tower (1 WTC).

At 9:03 a.m., five other hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the southern facade of the South Tower (2 WTC).

Wreaths Across America is the non-profit organization best known for placing veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of our nation’s fallen at Arlington National Cemetery. However, the organization, in total, places more than 2 million sponsored wreaths at over 2200 participating locations nationwide.

Art Guild plans photo competition

TIFFIN -  The Tiffin Art Guild's Annual Photo Prize Competition and Show Grand Opening will be 4 to 6  p.m. Sept. 5 at the Gallery, 130 S. Washington St.

Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. This exhibit will showcase photos of landscapes, architecture, portraits and much more.  Stop by and view the work of some of the best photographers we have in our community and local area. The exhibit will continue through Oct 3.
