The Mo Beef Mo Kids Mo Fit (MoBKF) team and Missouri Beef Industry Council (MBIC) selected Kyler Stricklan, a senior at Salem High School, as one of 11 4-H and FFA members to join the first MO Beef Leadership Academy. Stricklan will participate in leadership and educational opportunities throughout the year while representing the Missouri Beef Checkoff and MoBKF program in his community.

Stricklan is a member of the Salem FFA Chapter. His Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) consists of beef cattle production and farm placement. Stricklan and his family raises Black Angus cattle and he works for a number of other farmers, helping them with their operations.

“I’m excited to be a MO Beef Ambassador because the position gives me the opportunity to share my passion for the beef cattle industry by sharing my knowledge and experiences. It will also allow me to learn from others within the industry, which will benefit me as I prepare for my future life goals,” Stricklan said.

MoBKF connects Missouri cattle producers with food service professionals to provide more beef, more often on the school lunch tray, while implementing beef and nutrition education in the classroom. School administration and food service providers work with farmers and local, state or federally inspected processors to implement the program.

“We’re happy to have Kyler as part of our first Mo Beef Leadership Academy,” said Luella Gregory, MoBKF Program Director. “Our team wanted to identify a way to involve youth and expand our touchpoints in the lunchroom, classroom, and community. We are excited that these young leaders will play a role in sharing the important message of beef and Missouri agriculture in their local communities and beyond.”

The MO Beef Leadership Academy is a component of the MoBKF program and supported in part by the Beef Checkoff and by more than 50,000 Missouri farmers and ranchers, in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

The Missouri Beef Industry Council is a nonprofit organization responsible for administering programs of promotion, education, research and consumer and industry information.
