FARGO— Restaurants in North Dakota are still recommended to be at 75% capacity because of the Coronavirus. This means when Brew Bird's patio closes, their capacity will go down to 6 tables.
With colder days coming up the popular funky fried chicken place shared their unique solution. They are considering adding a tent over the patio. The semi-permanent outdoor structure along with the heating system, will cost upwards of $10,000.
This means they will be able to increase their seating capacity and continue using their outdoor Tiki bar.
"Luckily, North Dakota has been offering some good relief funding. We just qualified for a grant and so we're hoping that it will cover it," co-owner Britt Belquist says.
Having minimal seating capacity could be detrimental to the small locally-owned restaurant.
"We're nervous. We have a tiny spot and with seating being at 75% right now and if we're not able to get that tent in time it will greatly impact us," says Belquist.
They are considering other options, but they are hoping to get the tent before it gets too cold.
