Missing your foodie jaunts to San Francisco? Here’s one ongoing trend of the pandemic: San Francisco restaurants coming to you.
We’ve reported on the different ways that SoMA’s Frena Bakery & Cafe, Chinatown’s China Live and the Mission District’s Ernest are bringing their food to the suburbs. Now, Wayfare Tavern, Tyler Florence’s pub-style Financial District restaurant, is popping up this week in Walnut Creek (Sept. 23), Lafayette (Sept. 25), Redwood City (Sept. 24) and Petaluma (Sept. 26).
The menu features everything from 10 pieces of the restaurant’s organic fried chicken (think buttermilk brine, roasted garlic, crisp herbs and lemon) for $55, to an all-out meal for four ($140) that comes with housemade popovers, two side dishes (you may want to consider the macaroni and cheese with smoked olive oil and chives) and four homemade doughnuts.
There are also smaller meal options, a la carte options, salads, Mary’s organic chicken wings and barbecue spare ribs served with housemade sauce, toasted sesame and scallions. Beverage options include batched and bottled cocktails, in addition to wine. Order at least 14 hours in advance.
For more information, including pick-up location in your neighborhood and next week’s ordering link, which goes live at 10 a.m. Sept. 27, visit www.wayfaretavern.com. Want to be a neighborhood host? Email contact@wayfaretavern.com and follow the restaurant on social media @wayfaretavern.
