The University of Missouri Extension in Callaway County and Lincoln University's Busby Farm will be hosting a beef artificial insemination school from 12:30-8 p.m. Oct. 9 and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 10.
The school will be at the Lincoln University, Alan T. Busby Farm, 5124 Goller Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Online registration is available at bit.ly/32iCIwK. For information about mail-in registration, visit facebook.com/MUExtCallawayCo. Register by Oct. 2.
The school is intended to introduce participants to the method of artificial insemination through presentations and hands-on experiences. Topics to be covered include basic reproductive anatomy, the estrous cycle, semen and equipment handling, insemination techniques and synchronization protocols. Hands-on demonstrations include palpation, identification of reproductive tract and insemination techniques.
Class space is limited, but at least six participants must register for the class to occur. Included in the $300 registration fee are materials, dinner Friday and lunch Saturday.
