HANOVER TWP. — Another Crown Fried Chicken franchise is opening in Luzerne County.
A longtime worker of the South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, store is opening his own Crown Fried Chicken franchise in the former Vino Dolce on the Sans Souci Parkway in Hanover Twp.
“I’m trying my luck here,” said Tariq Shah, 33, of Wilkes-Barre.
Vino Dolce closed its restaurant at 824 Sans Souci Parkway in late August after 18 years and the space is now available for lease.
Shah said it’s a good location along a busy roadway.
He expects the Crown Fried Chicken restaurant to be open within the next two weeks. He said hours likely will mirror the South Main Street store, which is open 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Shah, an immigrant from Pakistan, said he has been working two jobs to support his wife and kids and hopes dedicating himself to his own place will be successful.
“These are popular,” Shah said. “The food is cheap and there’s a lot.”
Other Crown Fried Chicken franchises are located at 357 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre; 15 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre; 101 S. Wyoming Ave., Kingston; and 75 N. Market St., Nanticoke.
