The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for beef products “that were not presented for import re-inspection into the United States.”
The Wegmans Beef Culinary Stock no salt added was imported on or around Nov. 5, 2020.
The stock is not recalled because it is no longer for sale, however, the FSIS said it may be in consumers' pantries or refrigerators.
The product details are:
- Wegmans Beef Culinary Stock No Salt Added, 32-ounce carton, with UPC 7789045652 and codes 25MAR2022 and 26MAR2022 on the label.
The product bears the Canadian mark of inspection for “882.” This item was shipped to retail locations in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New York.
The FSIS said the problem was discovered when the purchaser determined that it was delivered without FSIS import re-inspection.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness because of consuming the stock.
Consumers who bought the stock should throw it away or return it to the store for a refund.
