Producers asked to define Canadian pork environmental footprint - National Hog Farmer

meat.indah.link

Manitoba Pork is urging all producers to participate in an online research study aimed at documenting the significant progress that has been made in recent decades to reduce the environmental impact of hog farming. The study aims to identify production efficiencies for producers and show environmental improvements that have been made in Manitoba and Canada. The results will be beneficial in garnering public and local government support to sustainably expand the provincial hog sector, without additional regulatory measures.

The first step in the study is an online survey of Canadian pork producers, which takes about 40 minutes to complete. Before beginning, producers will need to have on hand 2018 production statistics, feed composition, land and manure data and utility usage.

The survey does not need to be completed in one sitting, but must be completed by Nov. 20. Not all questions will apply to every operation, so producers are just asked to answer those that do apply to their specific operation. All information provided will be valuable and all responses will be treated with the utmost discretion and confidentiality. A $50 check will be sent to participants in thanks.
