Ready to serve upwards of 500 people, the Mid-Prairie High School post prom committee is hosting a drive through pork dinner this evening.

Mid-Prairie Guidance Counselor Melissa Rediger says the drive through service will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the high school in Wellman and at the AmVets Hall in Richmond. Each meal is $10 and includes pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and dessert. She says they don’t have a set dollar goal for the fundraiser, “We’re just going to be thankful for anything that we can get to help support these kids. It’s been difficult with the traditional fundraisers we’ve done in the past. We’ve tried to get creative in what we can do and still be sensitive to health concerns, so this is our main fundraiser that we are able to do. So we hope it will be well attended and the community will support that.”

Rediger says junior students will take and serve orders while wearing masks and gloves. Mid-Prairie’s prom was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and Rediger says they’re optimistic this year’s event will go on as planned for April 24th. She says students look forward to just being together after so much time apart due to the pandemic.
