Washington County continues to have the largest membership in the Iowa Pork Producers Association.
Washington County was recognized for having the most members for a 15th consecutive year during the 2021 Iowa Pork Congress. The county also added the most new members in 2020, gaining 40 new members for a total of 394. Neighboring Jefferson County had the largest percentage growth last year. Washington was also one of 19 counties that received a County Involvement Award, recognizing its efforts to create an active presence in its community during 2020. Awards were given based on a points system on activities to promote the pork industry, such as grilling at events, supporting youth activities, advertising in local newspapers, and other pork promotions.
