DES MOINES, IOWA – The third time is the charm for the World Pork Expo. After cancelations in 2019 due to concerns about African swine fever and 2020 because of COVID-19, the show will go on June 9-11 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.
“We’re more than thrilled to be hosting World Pork Expo this year,” said Jen Sorenson, president of the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) and communications director for Iowa Select Farms in West Des Moines, Iowa. “We look forward to connecting with our fellow producers, business partners and others who contribute to our nation’s essential pork production system.”
Iowa Governor Kim Reynold lifted the state’s mask mandate and social distancing rules in February. However, NPPC said the organization will continue to monitor developments in local, state and federal COVID-19 guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all World Pork Expo participants.
“A safe event is our number one priority,” Sorenson said. “We will implement appropriate precautionary measures to ensure a great experience for all World Pork Expo participants.”
