A man died Saturday after an accidental fall at the JBS Greeley beef plant.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fall at the plant, 823 N. 6th Ave. On arrival, crews found coworkers had extricated the fall victim. They took him to a safe location and attempted treatment.
Banner paramedics and Greeley firefighters also attempted treatment, taking the victim to North Colorado Medical Center.
“Today, a tragic accident occurred at our Greeley plant resulting in the death of one of our team members,” a JBS statement reads. “We are deeply saddened, and our thoughts and prayers are with our team member, his family, co-workers and friends.”
JBS is working closely with local officials to investigate the incident. In its statement, the company expressed gratitude to those who responded quickly and did everything they could to help.
Officials did not name the victim Saturday. The Weld County Coroner’s Office will likely identify him pending notification of next of kin.
