Piers Morgan exited “Good Morning Britain” this week amid the dustup around his latest criticism of Meghan Markle, a recurring theme in his career.
But that wasn’t the first time the bombastic television personality and former tabloid editor has been embroiled in a feud, on Twitter or otherwise.
Here’s a list of the big-time beefs Morgan, 55, cooked up over the years, Chelsea Handler and Jameela Jamil among them.
Jeremy Clarkson
Morgan and “Top Gear” alum Clarkson have sparred for many years.
Their animosity dates back to 2002 when Morgan published photos in his newspaper of the married Clarkson with another woman. Clarkson pleaded with Morgan not to run the story, to no avail, leaving Clarkson’s wife and children upset by the publicity.
The next year, Clarkson emptied a glass of water over Morgan during the last flight of the Concorde.
“I poured a glass of water over his crotch, so when he got off, it looked like he’d wet himself,” Clarkson admitted on television.
The following year, he got into a fistfight with Morgan at the British Press Awards. The scuffle left Clarkson with a broken finger and Morgan with a scar after getting punched three times.
Jameela Jamil
On Tuesday, “The Good Place” star Jamil tweeted that Morgan’s “campaign of lies” against her almost drove her to suicide last year.
“I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February,” Jamil, 35, wrote. “I’m glad I’m still alive today for many reasons.”
As Page Six previously reported, they got into a vicious Twitter feud last year over “Love Island” star Caroline Flack, who died by suicide.
“Piers using a dead woman who I was friends with, as a weapon to try to create further harassment for me as I’ve JUST explained publicly that last week I felt suicidal… is why he is this industry’s most problematic. My criticizing a *show* did not aim any hate at Caroline,” she tweeted at the time.
He responded, writing: “Delighted to see Jameela Jamil has miraculously found the strength from her myriad afflictions to brand me a ‘bullying parasite.’ This is such a valuable contribution to the #BeKind movement & I wish her well with her continued recovery from Hypocritical Twerp Syndrome.”
Janet Mock
In 2014, author and transgender activist Janet Mock appeared as a guest on “Piers Morgan Live” to discuss her memoir “Redefining Realness.”
After it aired, Mock lambasted Morgan on Twitter for describing her as “a boy until 18.” She angrily tweeted that Morgan needed to “get it the f–k together.”
Morgan sniffed back that he had “never been treated in such a disgraceful manner” by a guest.
JK Rowling
The celebrated author is no fan of Morgan, who she once described as a “celebrity toady.”
During a 2017 appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Morgan insisted that the Trump administration hadn’t put a “Muslim ban” into effect with a travel ban against seven countries.
Australian comedian Jim Jeffries, who was also a guest on the show, tartly responded by telling Morgan to “f–k off.”
The “Harry Potter” author gleefully retweeted the exchange and wrote, “Yes, watching Piers Morgan being told to f*** off on live TV is *exactly* as satisfying as I’d always imagined.”
Morgan responded, “This is why I’ve never read a single word of Harry Potter.“
“Because you had a premonition that one day the author would roar with laughter at seeing you called out for your bulls*** on live TV?” Rowling snapped back.
Chrissy Teigen
Multi-hyphenate Teigen has often roasted Morgan on social media.
One exchange sparked from a tweet in which Morgan mused: “I hope people don’t make me sound too perfect when I die. No coats of sugar please.”
John Legend, Teigen’s husband, replied: “You could test us by announcing your retirement.”
Teigen cheekily chimed in, “From what? Trolling isn’t a job (I’ve tried).”
Morgan rejoined with a potshot at Teigen’s own career, tweeting: “Maybe I should take up a proper job, like modelling?”
Teigen: “It keeps me nice and not-racist so sure, give it a go.”
Kim Kardashian
In 2016, the reality star shared a nude photo of herself on social media.
Morgan offered to buy clothes for Kardashian, referencing money woes involving her then-husband Kanye West that had recently made news.
“I know the old man’s $50m in debt, Kim – but this is absurd. Want me to buy you some clothes?” Morgan wrote.
“Hey @piersmorgan never offer to buy a married woman clothes. That’s on some Ashley Madison type s***,” Kardashian clapped back.
Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Handler happily weighed in with her encounter with Morgan this week.
“Some a–holes get better, some just stay the same,” she recently captioned a clip of an old interview between her and Morgan that has since gone viral.
In the resurfaced 2014 segment from “Piers Morgan Live,” Handler said Morgan was a “terrible interviewer” for not paying attention to what she was saying during the conversation.
While Morgan tried to turn the tables and blamed the 46-year-old comedian for not “keeping [his] attention,” Handler quickly fired back.
“That’s not my problem,” she said. “This is your show. You have to pay attention to the guests that you invited on your show.”
Ariana Grande
Piers’ feud with Grande was one of the few to end sanguinely. The “Thank U, Next” singer came for Morgan in November 2018 when he accused her of using nudity to sell albums. But the pair decided they had common ground — apparently extending past their tax brackets — after a face-to-face in February 2019.
“We bumped into each other. at a restaurant. and i decided to sit with him and we spoke for a while. i think some progress was made!” Grande explained after some fans expressed disappointment in their rapprochement.
Lady Gaga
Gaga and Morgan sparred in 2016 after Morgan hinted that she and Madonna lied about being sexual assault survivors.
He also insinuated that Gaga was exaggerating claims of PTSD, saying, “I know numerous soldiers with PTSD, it’s a very serious thing. I also know people who claim to have it but clearly don’t.”
Evidently, Gaga held some kind of sway over Morgan that few others could claim: He went on to say he regretted the PTSD tweet and also apologized to her in April 2020 after criticizing her One World: Together at Home COVID-relief concert.
Emily Ratajkowski
“Somewhere, Emmeline Pankhurst just vomited,” Morgan tweeted in 2017 of one of EmRata’s sexy photoshoots. This, after he called Ratajkowski a “global bimbo” on “Good Morning Britain” and after he recycled his “buying clothes” comment to Kardashian to Ratajkowski in July 2016.
“Telling women what to do with their bodies & sexuality is actually just classic sexism,” Ratajkowski responded to the 2017 jibe. “I can have opinions about feminism & also do sexy photo shoots k thanks.” She proceeded to ignore Morgan as he continued to tweet about her five further times.
Anderson Cooper/CNN
Morgan went after Cooper after the Brit’s own CNN show went kaput, telling Politico, “Could I have done with a better lead-in? Yes.
“Anderson is a great field reporter, but does he drive big ratings at CNN, outside of a big news cycle? I don’t see any evidence of it.”
Cooper didn’t respond, though CNN did, putting out a statement that read, “For the two and a half years that ‘AC 360’ served as the lead into Piers Morgan’s program on CNN, it always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program. And for the seven months that Piers Morgan’s program led into ‘AC 360,’ ‘360’ always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program. It is sad that Piers is trying to find a new job by misrepresenting how he performed in his old one.”
Amber Rose
Morgan demonstrated his aptitude for recycling his old bits again in 2017 when he trotted out another reference to Parkhurst to use as a cudgel against Amber Rose, who posted a scantily-clad photo promoting her SlutWalk awareness event.
A blow-by-blow of their conflict would take the rest of March, so we’ll just drop our favorite of Rose’s shots: “I would make u my little submissive bitch & u would love every second of it I can see right through u.”
Daniel Craig
Morgan hit out at Craig in 2018 for carrying his infant daughter in a chest-sling, which he referred to as a “papoose.” While the Bond actor didn’t respond, Captain America himself, Chris Evans, did, chiding, “You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child.” Morgan was subsequently inundated on Twitter with pictures of beefcakes ranging from “Thor” actor Chris Hemsworth to UFC fighter Alex Volkanovski toting their offspring in chest slings.
Emma Watson
Morgan has gone after Watson multiple times, first implying in a 2017 article that Watson had set up a double-standard of feminism over an interview question she answered about Beyoncé. Watson simply posted the entirety of the interview, showing Morgan had taken her answer out of context.
He went after her in 2019 for describing her single status as “self-partnered” and again a month later for appearing dressed as a nun in a Pirelli calendar, calling her, “The most virtue-signaling actress of all time.” Watson stopped responding to him after 2017.
