Following a few well-deserved award nominations for his work in A24’s Minari, actor Steve Yeun is set to continue that working relationship with the production studio. As first reported by Deadline, A24 is currently developing a new dramedy series titled Beef. Additionally, Steven Yeun joins comedian Ali Wong as the show’s leads.
Beef has received a 10-episode series order from Netflix. The highly sought-after project hails from Lee Sung Jin (Silicon Valley). After reports that Jin was shopping the idea around, a bevy of streaming services sent in offers with Netflix coming out on top. Both Wong and Yeun are among the show’s executive producers. Additionally, Lee Sung Jin will write all 10 episodes as well as serve as Beef‘s showrunner. In a statement, the creator expresses his excitement to begin production.
“Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, A24 and Netflix. It’s a dream team, and I’m honored to be collaborating with them,” said Lee Sung Jin. “I’m also grateful to the guy who yelled at me in traffic three years ago. I did not let it go, and now we have a show.”

Per the initial report, the half-hour comedy/drama hybrid follows two strangers after an intense road rage incident. After stepping away from the situation, the two allow the accident to fester in their minds as it slowly begins to consume their every thought, action, and decision.
Steven Yeun is currently nominated for Best Actor for Minari at the upcoming 93rd Academy Awards ceremony. The film is also up for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress as well. Additionally, Yeun will voice the lead character in the upcoming animated superhero series Invincible for Amazon Prime TV. Meanwhile, Ali Wong is best known for writing for the first three seasons of the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat. Moreover, her Netflix comedy specials continue to receive praise from fans and critics alike. Recently, Wong touts roles in films like Birds of Prey, Onward, and Love, Victor as well.
