Free pork loins will be handed out in Storm Lake tomorrow (Wed) as part of a “Thank You Celebration” from Iowa pig farmers.
An event organized by the Iowa Pork Producers Association will be held at 1pm tomorrow (Wed) at King's Pointe Resort. Buena Vista County farmers Mike and Michelle Ehlers of Marathon will say thank you to the Storm Lake community for its support of farmers during the past year. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will be among those on hand.
Following that event, pork products will be delivered to first responders in Storm Lake, and pork coupons and packages will be distributed to Storm Lake grocers so they can share materials with their customers.
Starting at 4pm, approximately one-thousand four-to-five pound fresh pork loins will be handed out in the St. Mark Lutheran Church parking lot. Anyone in the community is eligible to receive a pork loin. Pork loins will be handed out until 6pm, or until the supply runs out.
Traffic should enter the church from the west, go through the south side of the building, pick up a pork loin on the east side, and exit onto 5th Street.
