SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Iowa pork producers are saying "Thank You" to Sioux City by giving away 1,000 pork loins to local households.
On April 28, the Iowa Pork Producers Association will be handing out 5-pound pork loins at the Siouxland Expo Center at 550 S. Lafayette Street in Sioux City.
The event starts at 4 p.m. and is open to all residents in the Sioux City area. It's first-come-first-serve and the event will go through 6 p.m., or until the supply runs out.
The pork loins will be handed out to those driving through the parking lot of the event.
IPPA says this event is a thank you to the Sioux City community after supporting Iowa pig farmers and employees at pork processing facilities as they’ve worked to keep a safe food supply available to the community and for the country, despite COVID-19 challenges the past year.
In addition to the giveaway, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, an area farmer will thank the Sioux City community in person on the behalf of the IPPA.
Following the 1 p.m. event, pork products will be delivered to first responders in Sioux City, and pork coupons will be distributed to Sioux City Fareway and Hy-Vee grocery stores so they can share those with their customers.
