With these massive spending bills that are being pushed through Congress, the major media outlets keep telling us that most Americans approve of them. That may be true because they only highlight the high points of them. Nobody wants to publish the “pork” that exists and benefits only specific groups or organizations.
Maybe the way to get buy-in is to do a simple math spreadsheet showing the dollar amounts and the specifics as to where it is to go. It would then bring to the surface the special interests that are being funded and should not be part of these bill
These items should be taken out so that the roads, bridges and internet access that truly need funding and that everyone does support can be approved. It would ease the partisan bickering which is made to make only one party look bad for political posturing purposes.

‘Beautiful Things’
As the Biden Administration’s first challenge has unfolded at the border, we have learned much about President Biden’s approach to problems and what to expect in the future.
Watching the minimizing, the rationalizing, the forgetting, the self-deception and repression, we see all the hallmarks of addiction: a weak mind, strung out on progressivism. Another Joe Biden product, Hunter Biden, presents himself as the perfect metaphor for the end state of Bidenism.
Given our president’s disassociated state, we shouldn’t be surprised if he borrows the title of Hunter’s book to describe his policies as “Beautiful Things.”

Protest
About 50 years ago I obediently entered the U.S. military where I served in the virtual genocide of a small Asian nation for which I was decorated and thanked for my “service.”
Last Nov. 4 I was arrested with 645 fellow citizens for being a public nuisance trying to address serious issues of racial and economic inequality, climate destruction and human rights abuses at our southern border, largely caused by our government’s insane obsession with endless war and militarism.
This month marks the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “Beyond Viet-Nam War” speech. Dr. King once stated: “A nation that continues to spend, year after year, more money on military defense rather than programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.”
Americans need to realize that there is a twisted sense of morality running through this country, and Gov. Walz needs to recognize that protest is integral to a strong democracy. He should drop the charges against the freeway protesters.
