So, we have formed a nonprofit association, the Oklahoma Certified Beef Association,” said Scott Blubaugh, the president of the American Farmers and Ranchers Oklahoma Farmers Union.Blubaugh told KOCO 5 that the new association provides certification that gives Oklahomans confidence their beef is guaranteed to come from Oklahoma and that our money stays in Oklahoma to support ranchers and rural communities.“We are requiring third-party verification on all the cattle, so we want to have integrity to the program,” he said.Oklahomans can purchase beef directly from ranchers, but some grocery stores and restaurants also will offer certified Oklahoma beef in the near future.“We’re getting calls from other states now saying, ‘How in the world could you do that? Can you show us how to do it, as well?’” Blubaugh said.Creative solutions like this are just one more way Oklahomans are going to get through the pandemic together.
