ILOILO CITY, Feb. 15 (PIA) - The Iloilo Provincial Government has enjoined the coastal municipalities in northern Iloilo to closely monitor the possible entry of swine, swine semen, pork, pork products and by-products from Masbate.
This, after the Department of Agriculture (DA) recently reported a case of African swine fever (ASF) in Barangay Luy-a, in the municipality of Aroroy, Masbate.
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., through Executive Order No. 048, Series of 2021, ordered the close monitoring of Iloilo coastal municipalities including Ajuy, Anilao, Balasan, Banate, Barotac Nuevo, Barotac Viejo, Batad, Carles, Concepcion, Dumangas, Estancia, and San Dionisio, especially their island barangays, of possible entry of swine, swine semen, pork, pork products, and by-products from the Masbate area.
The executive order also added Eastern Visayas, as among the localities and territories from where swine, swine semen, pork, pork products and by-products are banned from entry into the Province of Iloilo.
On one hand, all livestock transport carriers coming in, and going out, of Livestock "Oksyon" Market (LOM), Livestock Auction Market (LAM) and livestock holding facilities, shall undergo thorough disinfection, and must carry updated disinfection clearance signed by the livestock technician or any authorized personnel.
Meanwhile, all couriers/forwarders are enjoined from transporting/delivering into the Province of Iloilo the aforementioned products sourced from Luzon, Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and areas affected by ASF as may be declared by the DA.
The following are the territories and localities from where swine, swine semen, pork, pork products, and by-products are banned from entry into the Province of Iloilo: Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Luxembourg, Belgium, Bulgaria, Moldova, Czech Republic, South Africa, Zambia, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Lao People's Democratic Republic, South Korea, China, Luzon, Mindanao, Eastern Visayas in the Philippines, including their island provinces, and from such other territories and localities, as identified and declared by the DA.
