World's First Vegan Pork Debuts at LA and Bay Area Restaurants for Earth Day - VegOut Magazine

OmniPork is made from a mixture of peas, non-GMO soybeans, shiitake mushrooms, and rice. The result is a product that mimics pork in taste and texture but contains 86% less saturated fat and 66% fewer calories than its animal-based predecessor. The product comes in three varieties—ground, strips, and luncheon—to allow chefs to incorporate it in an infinite number of dishes. OmniPork has already received glowing reviews from chefs and consumers across China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The first Los Angeles area restaurants to incorporate OmniPork-centered dishes include CHIFA, RiceBox, Little Fatty, MANEATINGPLANT, Ramen Hood, and Morning Nights. In San Francisco, Shizen and Chef Reina will receive the coveted plant-based pork, and in Honolulu, patrons can track it down at GOEN Dining + Bar and Tane Vegan Izakaya. Each kitchen has the freedom to get creative with OmniPork—expect different edible interpretations at each location.
